When I have created my last blog spot...I suddenly remembered the old Doors hit from the sixties..."Waiting for the sun"....

Waiting For The Sun

It is almost noon now, and for the first time in a long time, we had sunshine .... It was cold, a fresh wind was blowing from the west ... It's nice to know the sun now comes higher and higher above the horizon.....
The sun is shining on the high mountains behind the little hospital .... We look forward to see the sunshine coming to the village ....

It had rained since last evening...a lot of snow had melted...I don't like it...But I enjoy listening to this nice music..

Christmas Day

By midnight, some of the village's residents sang Christmas Carols outside our house .... It was very solemnly.......
Before the IDA was in bed, she was hungry .... She rushed out in the kitchen and found some ricepudding ... She says: "Christmas time is nice, there is always something good in the fridge"....

To Misha and Tatiana in St. Petersburg, Russia: We have trouble with our Faxmachine if I can'nt fix it, I'll send the the fax from our postoffice..It's open Monday...

Busyness Before Christmas

In the morning the blizzard was over... and the children were playing on the road leading down to the shop....
on the way down to our little post office I met several people who had to buy the last Christmas presents.....Our house in the background...

It has snowed nearly every day in December ... A true Christmas landscape........

Many people outside the store .... they made fun and told news from the village, and waited for the helicopter....

We had two helicopters today the last one brought me the Christmas present for my wife....I was lucky today

Blizzard and filled chocolates

We woke up late today .... It's nice to have hollyday ... there was a storm warning for our area ... On the morning there was only slight wind in Kuummiut, but around 3 o'clock came gusts of hurricane strength ... while it began to snow ... The puppys is currently eating seals ...
We had a nice day indoors while snowstorms raged outside .... Today we have made filled chocolates .... Ida like to dip marzipan in the liquid chocolate ... Tomorrow I will bake rye bread and and butter cookies ...

Sunday before Christmas

Before noon I went out for a walk ... The weather has definitely been good, it is only slightly overcasted
It is a little cold -11C/12, 2F and a light wind blowing from the east ... the ice is now spreading in Ammassalik Fjord ...

The dogs are waiting impatiently for the sled season will start.....

Vittus collecting water in cans ... Many houses have no taps ... it is a cold job in wintertimes.....

Drying racks are empty at the factory ... it is many years since there was dried fish here ...In the 60'ties and 70'ties the racks were filled with cod....

December sky

Soon it will be Christmas...The days are still getting shorter.....But in a few days the sun will rise higher in the horizon.... This photo is taken at 12.16 today.....

It's Christmas holiday

After the Christmas service rushed the children to school ...
In school we danced around the Christmas tree... The children sang the old Christmas carols.....

Later came Santa Claus with candy to the children............

Thinking of summer

In this dark December I often think of summer time .. I have chosen to show you some pictures from summer 2005......my oldest daughter, my youngest daughter and I am keeping rest....

Overcasted

View towards Kuummiut....My boat at the bottom of the photo......it was a little cold, and gray day......but I am pleased that my photo December full moon was so well rated at Wunderground.....I have many emails to be answered .... Thanks to all who have written to me....

Lucia day

Our daughter Ida was Lucia girl yesterday on Lucia day........
The Lucia girls were followed with great interest of the other students.....

Here are all the girls from our school in Kuummiut...........

In the evening was the students' parents gathered in the school to make decorations for Christmas trees ... We had a wonderful evening together.......

Full moon in December

I woke up to this wonderfull winterlandscape this morning....After several days Neqiaqs and piteraqs was it very peacefull, to see the Christmas full moon...

Blizzard once again

We woke up again to the blizzard even a fairly violent one ... At eight o'clock they said in the radio school in Kuumiut was closed because of the bad weather ... Here are our nursing station .. .. our resettlement It is not necessary to spray artificial snow on the windows
Air pressure was very low ....

I sailed off to my boat in my small inflatable boat .... The storm was over... and Kuummiut was beautiful in the scant daylight

Looking across fjord mouth and Denmark Strait .... It seems that a new low pressure is on the way ....
